Gift Shop Manager

Tarpon Bay Explorers is looking for a Gift Shop Manager for their nature-themed gift shop. Tarpon Bay Explorers is the concession for the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island. As the concession to the Refuge, Tarpon Bay Explorers provides the recreational and eco-tour opportunities within the Refuge. The primary theme of the merchandise sold is related to wildlife, the environment and recreational activity related to experiencing “Ding” Darling.

Responsibilities of the Gift Shop Manager include, but is not limited to the following:
● Purchasing nature-themed merchandise
● Meeting with vendors to discuss and purchase merchandise
● Manage ordering, receiving and stocking products
● Create and organize displays and maintain acceptable shop appearance
● Organizing and stocking merchandise on the floor and in storage
● Familiarity with POS systems to manage inventory
● Reviewing vendor catalogs for prospective merchandise products
● Providing excellent customer service and addressing customer inquiries
● Execute shipping orders to customers

Experience in retail and customer service is preferred. Applicants with familiarity of the refuge and/or related knowledge to the Refuge’s ecosystem and wildlife is preferred. Part-time or full-time positions potentially available. Work days are flexible, but no WFO option available. Applicants must be organized, methodical, communicate effectively, work well independently, but also as part of a team. Basic computer skills and experience with POS systems is required.
